Smt. Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal has launched the West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme for all students who are from West Bengal and complete their further study. Students who are studying in class 10th or above can take a loan up to Rs 10 lakh to complete their higher studies at a very low rate of interest. The decision to launch this scheme was taken in a state cabinet meeting which was held on 24th June 2021.

To avail of the benefit of this loan, students will get a student credit card. With the help of this credit card, students can withdraw the amount of loan. Under this scheme, loans can be availed for undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and postdoctoral studies in India or abroad. So, all the students who have been living in West Bengal for the last 10 years can take benefit from this scheme.

• West Bengal student credit card scheme will be launched on 30th June 2021 by the state government of West Bengal.
• This scheme was a part of the election manifesto made by current Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

How to Apply For West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme 2021?

Step 1 – At first, students have to visit the Official Website of Student Credit Card West Bengal i.e. https://wbscc.wb.gov.in/.

Step 2 – On the Homepage, You will see an option of Student Registration at the right hand side corner, click on it.

Step 3 – Now, the Registration Form page will be displayed on the screen.

Step 5 – Now, enter your basic details that are given below-

• Your Name
• Date of birth
• Gender

Step 6 – Now, it will ask “Do you have Aadhaar Number?” If you have your Aadhar Card number then click on yes. Otherwise, click on the No option.

Step 7- If you click on No option, then You have to provide the following details-

• Name of 10th standard Board^*
• Registration Number of 10th standard Board^*
• Year of passing of 10 standard Board^*

Step 8 – After that, enter details of your Present Course of Study such as Programme Type, Programme Name, State of Institution, District of Institution and Name of Institution.

Step 9- After that, enter your Contact Details such as your mobile number and email id & reenter the email id again.

Step 10 – Now, enter the password and renter the password again.

Step 11- At last, click on register option and the process has been completed.

Note: To register the beneficiaries of the West Bengal SCC Scheme, it has been estimated that there will be a total of 1.5 crore beneficiaries for this scheme.
