Objectives of CEIR Portal
The prime aim of launching the ceir.gov.in portal was to reduce fraudulent practices in the mobile phone market. This portal will block the IMEI number of such mobile phones and as a result, the service network operator will blacklist that particular device. Such operations will protect consumer interests as well as reduce the chances of misuse of inserted SIM cards and mobile phones.
Advantages of ceir.gov.in Portal
As we mentioned above that with the help of this portal mobile users were at ease and it is very helpful if their handset is lost due to their carelessness or theft. It is very convenient and easy to block and track their missing devices. Then the portal will block the IMEI of the respective phone. And as a result, all networks will limit their service to the blocked IMEI. Although, the police will still be able to trace the phone. In addition, blocking the phone’s IMEI will reduce the possibility of the missing device being misused.

About Know Your Mobile (KYM) Portal
With the help of the KYM, you can easily check the validity of your mobile device even before buying it. As you know that IMEI is written on the mobile packaging box and it could be found on the mobile bill or invoice. You can check the IMEI number by dialing *#06# from your mobile, IMEI number will be shown on the mobile screen. If the status of the mobile is shown as Black-listed, duplicate, or already in use, please avoid buying the mobile. KYM could be used via any of the following 3 methods.
KYM via SMS
You will need to type KYM <15-digit IMEI number> from your mobile and send it to 14422. The status of the phone will be on your screen.
Through KYM App
If you enter the IMEI number in the KYM app, you can check the status of your mobile.
Through Official Web Portal
- At first, you have to go to the official website of the ceir.gov.in portal.
- Now, the home page of the website will open in front of you.
- Then, you will see the “here” option under the web portal option.
- After this, a form i.e., the C-DOT CEIR IMEI Verification page, will open in front of you.
- Here, you have to enter the details of the information asked like- your mobile number.
- Then, you will receive an OTP and you have to enter this OTP at the specified location.
- Now, you have to enter the 15-digit IMEI number
- At last, the status of the phone will be on your screen.

There are two ways to download CEIR know your customer mobile app which is as follows:
Download the KYM APP from Google Play Store or Apple App Store
- For downloading the Know Your Mobile app, first of all, you have to go to your Android Mobile’s Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
- After this, the home page in front of you will open.
- Now, you need to go to the search option and type KYM- Know Your Mobile App.
- Then, you have to press the install button and the app will be downloaded in the background.
- After that, you have to open the app and enter the IMEI number.
- The status of the mobile will be displayed in front of you.
Download the KYM APP from Official Website
- At first, you need to go to the Official Website of CEIR Portal i.e. ceir.gov.in.
- After this, the home page in front of you will open.
- Now, you need to press the ‘download the KYM app’ link under the KYM app.
- A QR code page will be displayed on the screen.
- Then, you need to scan that QR code on your mobile phone.
- The app will be downloaded and installed on your phone.

Procedure to Track Stolen/ Lost Mobile Phone 2022:
Whether your mobile phone gets stolen or lost, then you have to file a First Information Report (FIR) with the police and then inform DoT about the incident through helpline number 14422. After the verification process of DoT, DoT will blacklist the phone, blocking it from further use. Furthermore, if anyone tries to use the device using a different SIM, the service provider will identify the new user and inform the police. How to file a complaint to Track Stolen/ Lost Mobile Phone 2022?
- First of all, the person whose mobile phone is lost will have to file an FIR in the nearest Police Station.
- After doing that, the person will have to inform DoT via helpline number 14422.
- Now, DoT will blacklist the IMEI number.
- This would result in the handset being blocked to access any mobile network in the future.

There are three ways by which you can block your mobile handset through the central equipment investigation register such as:-
Through Online Registration Form
The official website portal is http://www.ceir.gov.in and it depends on the International Mobile Equipment Identity or IMEI number to help with tracking. Bur before following the steps, one has to file a First Information Report (FIR) after the device is lost or stolen.
Below are steps for blocking a mobile using the CEIR portal
- At first, an FIR has to be lodged against the person whose mobile phone has stolen.
- It is compulsory for the FIR to be successful, now, the person will have to get another duplicate SIM card of the same number of his previous number.
- Then, you have to fill this application form given at ceir.gov.in.
- Now, you need to attach all the asked documents along with the FIR copy and an identity proof aadhar card or voter ID card will also have to be submitted.
- After that, a request ID will be generated.
- Keep the received request ID for future use.
How to unblock an IMEI Number after you have Found your Mobile?
Whether you find your stolen device, the user will have to first report to the local police the same. Now the user can unblock by submitting another form on the website. After that, the IMEI will be unblocked. This could take some time, and users will have to check the status on the CEIR website itself.
- First of all, you have to go to the official website of the Central Equipment Identity Register.
- Now, the home page of the website will open in front of you.
- Here, you have to click on the option of “Un-Block Found Mobile“.
- After this, a form will open in front of you.
- Here, you have to enter the details of the information asked, such as request ID, mobile number which you provide while blocking, a reason for unblocking and mobile number for OTP etc.
- Then, you have to click on the option of GET OTP.
- Now, OTP will be received on your mobile.
- Enter this OTP at the designated location.

Procedure to Check Request Status
- At first, you need to go to the Official Website of Central Equipment Identity Register CEIR i.e. official website
- Then, you need to click on the “CEIR Services” option available in the menu bar.
- Now, a drop-down list will appear on the screen from where you have to select the “check request status” option.
- Then the Check Request Status Form page will be displayed on the screen.
- Here you need to enter the request ID and then you have to click the submit option.
- Your request status will appear on the computer screen.
Procedure To Do IMEI Verification: How to Track Lost Mobile With IMEI Number
- First of all, you need to go to the Official Website of CEIR Portal i.e. ceir.gov.in.
- Now, you have to click on the application link.
- Now, you have to select IMEI Verification
- Then, the IMEI Verification page will be displayed on the screen.
- In this step, you have to enter your mobile number.
- Then, you have to click on get OTP.
- Now, an OTP will be sent on your mobile phone which you have to enter the OTP box.
- Then, you have to click on Verify OTP.
- Now, you have to enter the IMEI number.
- Then, you need to click on the check.
- Now, Your IMEI number will be verified.
Procedure To Give Feedback
- At first, you need to go to the Official Website of Central Equipment Identity Register CEIR i.e. official website.
- Here, you have to click on a useful link.
- Now, you have to click on the feedback.
- Then, the feedback page will be displayed on the screen.
- Here, you have to enter your name, email id, and your feedback
- Lastly, you have to click on submit.

- At first, you have to go to the Official Website of Central Equipment Identity Register CEIR i.e. official website.
- Here, you have to click on the login link which is present on the left side of the website.
- Now, the login page will be displayed on the screen.
- In this step, you have to enter your username and password.
- And at last, you have to click on submit.
How to register the fault?
You need to follow the given procedures to register a fault: –
- First of all, you need to fill out the Fault Registration Form.
- Now, a unique Ticket ID will be generated.
- Then, the form details will be mailed to your given mail id as well.
- Now, you have to save the Ticket ID and Registered Mobile Number for further use.
